Short biography 

Montserrat Prats López is Assistant Professor of Information Science at the Open University of the Netherlands. In 2017 she defended her PhD-thesis at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, entitled 'Managing Citizen Science in the Humanities: The Challenge of Ensuring Quality'.  Montserrat graduated in Business Administration at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona in 1998. She received her MSc degree in Business Administration (cum laude) from the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam in 2012, and carried out her PhD project at this same university. Prior to that, she worked as market research manager at Philips Consumer Electronics and as information specialist at the VU Library.  Montserrat’s research interests are knowledge management, organizational learning, technology and organizing, and new phenomena such as crowdsourcing and crowdfunding. In relation to her research on ensuring quality in Citizen Science, she has been interviewed by the platform ‘Iedereen Wetenschapper’ (EOS Wetenschap). Since 2018, Montserrat is involved with the ‘Collective Action’ research group to study the effectiveness of recruiting and engaging strategies and the quality of outcomes in Citizen Science projects.
