Short biography | |
Sarah Carmichael obtained her Ph.D. student at Utrecht University in February 2016 on her thesis, entitled 'Marriage, Family and Gender Inequality: An historical exploration of the relationship between family systems, the position of women and development'. She holds a BA from University College Utrecht in Social Sciences with tracks in law and sociology after which she completed an MA in Comparative History and an LLM in Law and Economics, both at the University of Utrecht. Her research interest lies in the interaction between agency and economic development. As a part of this research she is working on marriage patterns and family types from 1800 until the present day. She is interested in economics and interdisciplinary approaches to institutional phenomena.
